I just took a screenshot in SketchUp (can save a screenshot high res using SketchUP, but not a render.. render software is separate and costs). Then I painted over the screenshot in Photoshop Elements 7
I think I prefer to make a 3d base instead of drawing a basis for an image (at least the last couple of times) it saves me stuffing up dimensions just drawing and using my noggin.
Even though I find ACXtreme's feedback very interesting and would love to see something like that in the commentary area beneath pictures in my gallery, I still have to disagree with him on the point of the Lammergeier's design not being very Caldari because of the use of sections. Several Caldari frigates, at least one cruiser hull (Caracal) and one battleship design has them too (the Scorpion is clearly build from 2 sections, a massive wing with scorpion-tail style rear section attached on top of it). What I see in this design is strong influence from Drake & Scorpion (the wings) and Rokh (the mid-section), how much more Caldari could it be?
"Lights - Too much lights ... unlike amarr, I'v never seen caldari use lights. I think there might be few on a titan but that's that..."
How about the belly of the Cormorant...?
All good points and the Rokh element is the most obvious. Given the time again I might have made it it differently (the Rokh like front block section).. though that could be said for everything I have done. Bah, I like it as it is
I had completely forgotten about the Cormorant and all those pretty lights moving around. It was a nice touch that should have gone on more Caldari ships.
Originally I put the lights on the Lammergeier because it was going through a 'sea fog' like nebula.. the wreck wasn't originally burning .. it worked but it was far too subtle. Added stars and fire and the fog aspect dissipated after that.
I agree, not sure what else I could have done (apart from putting the Caldari logo on it) to make it more Caldari.
Thanks again Spessulle
